For Parents: Talking To Your Teen About Masturbation | Annalee Belle & D’Vita - Part 6

Someone asked about how to talk to their teens about masturbation. I am aware this can be a challenging topic to discuss with your child, so I shared some advice.

Primarily focusing on teaching them self-love & self-pleasure and developing a healthy relationship with themselves first.

This way they are equipped to make better decisions when they do choose to be intimate with a partner.

Also, I am a Registered Nurse and mother of two adult daughters. So, I have navigated these conversations. I am asked this by my clients more often than you might think.

So I am sharing this to support you in guiding them on how to set boundaries with their body and empower them to make loving choices for themselves.

What is the best age to start talking to them about masturbation? Everyone starts at a different age and discovers their body differently, so starting that dialogue with your kids and teens is important about different important topics.

How do you talk to kids/teens about Masturbation?

  • Start by talking to them about:

  • Setting boundaries, and that their bodies are their bodies, and it belongs to them.

  • If anyone is trying to approach their body, they have to say no to them

  • That it’s okay to touch your body Self-Love and Self-Pleasure How to pleasure yourself first before having sex What are Periods

  • What is Sex and the best time to do it

Parents should start teaching about masturbation at an early age so they understand that self-pleasure and sex is a powerful and special thing, and you don’t want to just give that power away to just anyone.
